This course is intended to provide foundational knowledge and skill development for counseling children and adolescents. Foundational knowledge will include historical and current trends of counseling children and adolescents, multicultural and ethical considerations, expressive techniques, solution focused therapy, play therapy, REBT therapy, reality therapy, counseling at-risk children, crisis counseling, working with parents and family systems. Skills will include genera lcounseling skills, crisis counseling skills, and collaboration skills. Prerequisite(s): EDC 543 and 545.
